Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Roam Atlas ("Roam Atlas," "we," "us") collects and uses personal information when you use the consumer experience at https://roamatlas.org/, including Explore, map navigation, Adventures, shop discovery, campgrounds and places, consumer accounts, and inquiries you send to dealers or businesses.

If you use Roam Atlas Business (dealer analytics, Beacon, enrichment, business integrations), the Business Privacy Policy applies to that product. Businesses may independently use their own website technologies; those practices are described in their notices, not here.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use your private consumer account content to train public AI models.

• Account: email, display name, password hash, or Google sign-in identity (name, email, profile photo)
• Profile and activity: saved places, favorites, adventure journey memberships and reactions, Rig Profile dimensions stored on this device (and signed-in saves when you use My Atlas), and similar activity
• Usage: searches, pages viewed, map interactions, product feature use, approximate location from IP, browser/device, and referral information
• Inquiries: name, email, phone, message, and form fields you submit when contacting a dealer or business
• Support: messages you send us (including Suggestion Bottle) and related account context
• Cookies: essential session cookies and, where you consent, first-party product analytics identifiers plus consent-gated measurement tools used to understand product use
• Location: Explore can use the browser Geolocation API when you opt in. Location is used to center the map; we do not sell location streams.

We use this information to:

• Operate and improve Roam Atlas consumer features
• Authenticate you and secure accounts
• Deliver your inquiries to the business you contact
• Personalize discovery (for example saved places and adventures)
• Provide support and send service-related messages
• Understand aggregate product usage and fix errors
• Comply with law

• Dealers and businesses: when you submit an inquiry, we deliver it to that business. After delivery, that business is independently responsible for how it uses the inquiry under its own policies and the law.
• Service providers: hosting, database, email, maps, and similar providers that process data for us under contract. Categories are listed at https://roamatlas.org/data.
• Your connections: if you connect a third-party app, that provider's privacy policy applies to data you send there.
• Legal: when required by law or to protect rights and safety

We use essential cookies for login, security, and remembering your cookie preferences. Product analytics run only after you accept analytics cookies, or where another lawful basis applies. That includes first-party usage signals (pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device/browser type, and similar) and may include consent-gated measurement tools that help us understand product use (including aggregated usage, heatmaps, or session insights). Those tools load only after analytics consent. Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals are treated as a decline of analytics cookies when we have not yet recorded a choice.

You can change your mind anytime using Cookie preferences in the site footer, or your browser settings. Declining analytics does not affect essential cookies needed to run Roam Atlas.

Cookies and similar storage fall into these categories:

Company identification from IP (for business visitors) runs only after you choose Accept all (marketing category). Accept analytics alone does not enable that lookup. Map services used in Explore process map viewport requests as needed to show the map.

If Roam Atlas exposes generative or assistive AI features to consumers, we send only the content needed for that feature. We do not sell your private account content to train public AI models.

We keep account data while your account is active. After closure we provide a reasonable export window, then delete on our standard schedule except where law requires longer retention (for example certain support or security logs). Inquiry copies may be retained as needed to operate delivery and dispute resolution.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and restricted access to production systems. No method of transmission is 100% secure.

Depending on where you live, you may request access, correction, deletion, export, restriction, or objection, and withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. California residents have CCPA/CPRA rights.Roam Atlas does not sell personal information. Where applicable, you may opt out of uses that are treated as "sharing" under applicable privacy law through Cookie preferences in the footer, Global Privacy Control where we honor it, or by contacting us. Email privacy@rvatlas.org. We respond within 30 days where required.

Roam Atlas is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We will post updates on this page and revise the version date. Material changes may be communicated by email or in-product notice.
